Charles Schwab & Company will be opening a 1,500 sq. ft. retail office at the Cascades Shoppes, located at 4848 S. Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando, Florida  32819.  The office will offer retail securities brokerage and financial services. 

The Cascades is a 68,904 sq. ft. shopping center anchored by Publix and Chase Bank.  The shopping center  was developed by Courtelis Company.

“Party City joins Vicenza Plaza”

Courtelis Company is pleased to announce a new lease in the Vicenza Plaza, a new 73,828 sq. ft. neighborhood shopping center that the company is developing in Hialeah Gardens, Florida.

The company has leased space to Party City, a 11,585 sq. ft. store, adjacent to Hialeah Gardens High School.  Party City is America’s largest specialty party goods chain with more than 600 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico.

The Shopping Center will open in late summer 2012 and will be anchored by Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market and a Chase Bank.

“Trader Joe’s and five other businesses join Granada Shoppes”

Courtelis Company has leased six new spaces totaling 27,113 sq. ft. at the Granada Shoppes in North Naples in the Fourth Quarter of 2011, including:  Florida’s first Trader Joe’s Market (13,990 sq. ft.); Moe’s Southwest Grill (2,600 sq. ft.); Advance Auto Parts (6,063 sq. ft.); Hair Color Xperts (1,760 sq. ft.); Truly Organic Pizza (1,500 sq. ft.); and Sunbuilt Design (1,200 sq. ft.).

“These leases represent a significant positive turn in the Naples retail market and are the product of a tremendous amount of hard work on the part of our entire leasing and management staff”, announced Rod Castan, President of Courtelis Company Leasing and Management.

Granada Shoppes is a 300,000 sq. ft. community shopping center developed by Courtelis Company and Barron Collier Company at the southeast corner of Immokalee Road and U.S. 41 in North Naples.  The Shopping Center was developed in 2001 and includes Marshalls, Haverty’s, Walgreens, and Pier One as its major tenants.

The Shopping Center will open in late summer 2012 and will be anchored by Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market and a Chase Bank.

Courtelis Construction Company is the general contractor for the shopping center, and Keith Martin AIA is the Architect.

Five Guys Burgers and Fires has opened a 3,035 sq. ft. restaurant and Gainesville Opticians has leased a 3,191 sq. ft. space in a former Hollywood Video space at the Gainesville Marketplace, located at NW 16th Blvd. and NW 43rd Street in Gainesville, Florida.

The Marketplace is a 75,538 sq. ft. shopping center anchored by The Fresh Market. The shopping center was developed by Courtelis Company.

“Courtelis Company represents Fuddruckers in Miami Expansion”

Courtelis Company has represented Vitafoods, the Fuddruckers local area developer in the leasing of two new location on two of Miami’s most prominent retail streets, South Dixie Highway and Kendall Drive. Fuddruckers was founded in 1980, to provide the “World’s Greatest Hamburger”.

The first new location will open early 2012 in 7,643 sq. ft. on South Dixie Highway and SW 148th Street in Palmetto Bay, just south of The Falls Shopping Center. The second new location will open at the Garden Village Shopping Center, which is planned to be built in 2012 on Kendall Drive and SW 153rd Avenue, just east of the new Baptist West Kendall Hospital. Vitafoods has leased 6,000 sq. ft. at the West Kendall location. Vitafoods owns and operates Fuddruckers in Doral, Hialeah, and Pembroke Pines, Florida.

Courtelis Company is pleased to announce several new retail leases at the Shops at Surfside, Cape Coral’s Lifestyle Center. Woody’s Waterside Grill is opening its second Lee County location with a 5,470 sq. ft. of island restaurant grill at Surfside. Kids Kingdom has opened a 1,260 sq. ft. indoor kid’s playroom offering kid’s parties and educational programs. The Shops at Surfside is located at Veterans Parkway and Surfside Blvd. in Cape Coral.

Courtelis Company leases and manages the 180,000 sq. ft. Shops at Surfside for a major private equity owner. The company has been in business since 1963, developing-leasing and managing properties throughout Florida.

Chief Executive Officer

Douglas Pitts, Sr. has been with Courtelis Company since 1965 and together with Alec Courtelis, built the company into one of Florida’s most recognized commercial property development and management companies.  Mr. Pitts is a member of the Board of Directors of the Everglades Foundation, Devcon Corporation, and past director for Audubon Association of Florida.

Elias M. Vassilaros has over thirty-five years of experience in all aspects of real estate development including acquisitions of entitled and developed properties that lend themselves to redevelopment, or un-entitled tracts of land that are master planned for mixed use developments; planning and development; financing; horizontal and vertical construction of improvements. Elias Vassilaros has been the Executive Vice President of Courtelis Company for over 15 years responsible for the day to day operations. Prior to that, Elias M. Vassilaros was Vice President and General Manager of Florida Ecological Company, an underground utility construction company. Elias M. Vassilaros holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science from the University of Miami.

Development and Asset Management Services

Charles F. Rogers has thirty six years of experience in commercial real estate finance.  Prior to joining Courtelis Company in 1983, he was Vice President of Dade Federal Savings and Loan Association, who he joined in 1972.  As Director of Real Estate Finance, his primary area of responsibility has been to secure acquisition, construction and permanent debt for the Company’s various real estate activities. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University, B.S. in Business Management/Finance in 1971.  In addition, he has successfully completed his MAI courses 1A and 1B.
